As a pet owning community member I do not believe that it is fair to continue making the island less dog friendly. Currently the only spaces where dogs are allowed off lead are the horrendous North and South Dog runs. These facilities are just awful, they are too small to exercise medium to large dogs, they are dirty and unhygienic, and above all else they are unsafe for the dogs that are supposed to use them. They lack running water and shade, the soil has completely eroded leaving loose dirt that floods when it rains and then takes several days for the mud to dry. They are filled with hazardous holes, rocks and too often broken glass. The portable toilets have been put disrespectfully close to the south town dog run such that the entire area stinks of sewage.
The bottom line is that there is no where on the island for dogs to be allowed off lead to play and to exercise.
