"The illogic of black culture befuddles me."

While I sympathize with Matthews' frustration and agree with the points he makes, the illogical doesn't befuddle me. To the contrary, it actually makes sense in its own terms. Blacks berate civility and acting white because they know that trying to emulate whites means playing in a sandbox in which they will never be successful as a group - not because of systemic racism, but because of their own limitations. In economic terms, it is not where they have comparative advantage. They make up for it with physicality and its various manifestations: athletics, rap, grievance agitation, hoodlum criminality, etc.
