If I could afford to, I wouldn’t mind paying for quality content. My problem is that subscriptions can cost a significant amount (the WSJ runs about $350 a year, I think) and there is only room in my budget for one or two monthly extras and right now they go to favorite charities. If too many services go to a pay model, competition for the limited dollars of the limited number of people willing to pay would be fierce.
