Because journalism is a hard, goddamned profession. And the profession has been polluted with far too many sensationalists who emphasize the sizzle, not the steak. So when I find a site that does report news accurately without too much editorializing then I figure that they are providing a useful product.

And people who produce that content need money to survive. If I freeload, and others do too, well, all I'm left with is a vacuum.
