My nerdy thing I’ve wanted to talk about for days:

I love how the film juxtaposes Thanos’ belief in sacrificing half the universe to save the other half with a series of heroes choosing to do the same thing on a micro level.

The obvious moment is Wanda killing Vision (I.e half of their relationship) to stop Thanos but it’s there in Tony taking a one-way trip, Strange saying he won’t save Peter or Tony, Quill’s promise to Gamora, Thor in the dwarf star. On and on.

And, whenever someone DOES do that, it doesn’t work, except for when Thanos kills Gamora. Which I think is a good thing. It’s a really great message about how we should always champion life. I think it’s driven home by Strange choosing to save Stark; because Strange supposedly knows the way to victory.

I also love the complex expression on Thanos’ face at the end. Happiness, sadness. I think he’s an incredible character. Even with his ‘balance’ motivation, I thought he’d fall flat but they did so well with him.

Man, it’s SO GOOD TO BE ABLE TO TALK ABOUT THIS STUFF.
