As a 30 year old federal employee with 6 years of service, I really hope they allow a FERS opt-out. I like the prospect of receiving an 8% match in TSP contributions rather than relying on a benefit which both political parties love to take aim at. Pension plans are destined to fail, and for that reason, I'm not a huge proponent of kicking this can down the road.
