Notable, however, is that while a majority of whites in the poll say discrimination against them exists, a much smaller percentage say that they have actually experienced it.

I know what slick trick with words they're trying to play here, they're trying to say that the discrimination doesn't actually exist because of the fact that way more white people say that it exists than have actually been victims of it. That's like saying that violent crime doesn't exist because the number of people who have been victims of it are way smaller than the number of people who say it exists. It's just that the people who say it exists but never have been victims of it know people who have been violent crime victims.
