Let us recall one of America's greatest environmentalists, Madison Grant. He was instrumental in saving both the American Bison and the California redwoods. He was also an immigration restrictionist.

The overpopulation of our urban areas (e.g., coastal California) has largely been the result of uncontrolled immigration. Environmental damage has resulted from excessive water demand on the parts of these urban populations. Essentially all U.S. population growth for the past 30 years is attributable to immigration.

As Grant foresaw a century ago, both the land and the historic population of this country would be better off if immigration were strictly limited. He was a strong supporter of the 1924 Immigration Act, and we've seen the evil consequences of its repeal. The 1960 Census indicated the U.S. population was then approximately 180 million. The 1924 Act was repealed in 1965; the U.S. population is now estimated at over 320 million. What good has this done our country?
