I remember as a youngster when my parents received visitors from Europe, how surprised they were...."We expected to to see elephants and zebras when we landed!" Instead they landed in a first world country... the same lifestyle as they enjoyed back home - almost 2 dollars to the Rand at the time.. Today I guess visitors would exclaim: We expected to see just shanty towns and slums. Which would almost be correct, for since the loss of control over his own affairs (thanks to the West) the white man has had to stand by and watch how the whole of Africa has laid claim to his territory, occupying the empty spaces in his first world cities with ramshackle nests of plastic sheeting and corrugated iron. 'Give us your jobs' they then demand, and their brothers in government then comply by legalizing racial discrimination to the point where blacks have taken probably more than 80% of the positions that whites once occupied. (and created). It is today IMPOSSIBLE for a white owned company to compete for government and mining contracts.... in a land that they themselves wrestled from the African bush.

Anyway, disregarding the fact that Hollywood spews out movies and documentaries that hardly show a white face or a developed area, but choose to focus on the African slums to emphasize that we whites don't, and never did exist, let me get back to your point: South Africa was discovered before Columbus set sail. The Portuguese settled the eastern shores in the early 16th century. Yes, 16th century. Our founding fathers settled the southern shoreline in AD 1652 . Which means that we've been here for 365 years, if I'm doing the sum correctly. 365 years.... I think we qualify for nation status. In fact, this makes us older than the Zulu nation, which was fused together as late as the early 19th century. Yet we don't exist in the eyes of the world.

We have our own brand of traditional dress, such as the Europeans have. We have our own brand of traditional music and folk dancing distinct from Europe. We have our own language, for heavens sake. What do people expect after 365 years of isolation and struggle.? In other words, we're not the dregs that were left behind by some colonial power, as it seems most people believe to be the case. We're a people. We have a history. Our forefathers tamed this land shoulder to shoulder with their women and children, using ox wagons and muzzle loaders.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this: how can you expect us as a nation to just pack our bags and disappear from the face of the earth.? With respect to all the good meaning people out there, who want to lobby for us whites to be given refugee status in America. This is our home. Yes, we're in dire straights. Yes, we face the greatest challenge that we have ever faced in our 365 years, and yes; we brought it upon ourselves when we decided to fight the spread of communism on our own, and thereby earned the wrath of the world.

Our prayer is that when our final battle arrives, that we can count among our friends those from the West whom we so dearly love as our brothers and sisters.

P.S. My heart warms at the thought of those young girls who chose to come home.
