I subscribed for one year in the late 90s. I have to say, I never really "got" Chronicles, for lack of a better word. It seemed to not focus on events but obscure, irrelevant ideas. Or "themes," is perhaps a better word? I probably sound a bit like a dunce, but its essays were more philosophical than they were relatable to current political debate. Too religion-centered, in some cases, writing about literature, obscure history, etc. Little bit of a rambling feel to many of their articles?
I dunno. I always felt like someone in an art museum that just didn't see the point of the artwork. Anyone else have that experience reading it?
