A number of years ago I read an essay in The New York Times that claimed that colleges should not require students to learn algebra because many people cannot learn algebra.
I posted a comment on The New York Times website suggesting that people who are unable to learn algebra probably lack the intelligence to benefit from a college education. My comment was not accepted.
